PTFA

Parents Teachers Friends Association of WFPS

Our purpose

The PTFA is a registered charity (1068873).  Our mission is to develop and maintain closer links between the school, the parents and the community, for the benefit of all.  As a parent or carer for a child joining the school, you are automatically part of the community.

What we do

A picture of the new trim trail, paid for with funds raised through the PTFA

We work together to arrange events for everyone to enjoy, and aim to raise money for the benefit of children at the school.  This money is used to contribute to school trips as well as extras for the children such as the year 6 leavers hoodies.

We also raise funds for big school projects.  In the last 2 years we have been able to contribute to providing lockers for the children and the construction of a new trim trail. We have raised  over £40,000 for the school in the last year and all of that has been reinvested in events and facilities that contribute to the school and its place in the community.

How you can help

Volunteer to help at school events

We run and staff numerous school events including the Christmas and Summer Fetes, twice yearly discos and numerous other one offs such as fun runs.  We need people to come and help with set up and take down, pre and post event preparations and the sourcing of prizes that can be used on stalls at the fetes.  Not only do these contribute to the school fundraising, but are also great community events.  If you think you can spare some time, or have some links that could source some lovely prizes to help with fundraising, please get in touch.

Help on the PTFA organisers team.

We are always delighted to welcome new members to the organising team. We are  interested in new ideas for activities and events that the PTFA can be involved in, or further fundraising and volunteering ideas.  We typically meet once a half term to make plans - we are happy for you to join online or come along in person to understand more about the PTFA organisers team.. There is no commitment to attend every meeting, we're supportive of people attending as and when they can.

Help us raise money directly, including through your employer

If you can't give your time, we welcome you to give directly to the charity.  You are able to donate out of your pay before tax, or claim gift aid on any donations which helps boost fundraising for the school.veral of our parents and carers have been able to use their employer's charity funding matching pledges (for example Nationwide, Barclaycard, DHL and Microsoft are some of the companies that offer this) to double to contributions that have been made by, or raised through, the work of their employee either in funds given or hours worked for the PTFA. If your employer offers this, please get in touch.

Use online services which help us raise money

  • Easyfundraising: If you sign up to Easyfundraising, the PTFA will get a donation every time you shop with 1000s of high street retailers.  60+ parents support us this way and have raised nearly £500 in the last 2 years.  Sign up here
  • Stikins Name labels: If you need name labels for your children’s clothes, order Stikins using this link and the PTFA will receive a small donation

Give your time, supported by your employer

Some organisations  enable employees to volunteer for charities as additional paid days of work (Nationwide, Barclays, PwC and Microsoft are examples).  We are delighted to welcome anyone to help out, even if they are not a parent or carer, using these schemes.  We have plans this year for a number of outdoor landscaping projects and are looking for people to participate in the landscaping work.
