Meet our Safeguarding Team

At Weston Favell CE Primary School, we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children through fostering an honest, open, caring and supportive school climate.

We ensure that all staff can identify children who are suffering, or who are likely to suffer, significant harm and take appropriate action with the aim of making sure they are kept safe both at home and at school.

Through PSHE and Computing lessons, as well as school worship, children are taught the skills they need to recognise and stay safe from abuse, whether online or otherwise.

What is Pupil Premium?

The pupil premium is an allocation of funding provided to schools to support children who may be vulnerable to underachievement. The amount received is dependent on the number of children who are eligible and have claimed for free school meals at any time in the last six years (this categorisation changed in 2012), any Looked after Children and/or the children of parents currently serving in the UK’s armed forces. All schools are required to report on the amount of funding and how this is being used.

Eligibility

If you are in receipt of any of the following you may be eligible for the Free School Meals:

  • Income Support
  • Income based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit, with no element of Working Tax Credit, and a household income below £16,190 (as assessed by HM Revenue and Customs)
  • Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit
  • Universal Credit

You may still be eligible if you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit which is going to end due to having recently reduced your hours or having become unemployed (also known as a '4 week run-on').

If you think you may be eligible then please go to the Northants County Council application page, here.

If you have any difficulties accessing the County Council website, then please contact the school office.

Aims and Principles

At Weston Favell CE Primary School, we organise teaching and learning to meet the needs of all of our children to ensure maximum impact. We ensure that appropriate provision is made for children who belong to vulnerable groups and that socially disadvantaged children have their needs adequately assessed and met.

We recognise that not all children who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged and we also recognise that not all children that are disadvantaged have free school meals. We allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any child the school has identified as being socially disadvantaged and should be making better progress.

Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources mean that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at one time.

Our key objective is to use the Pupil Premium funding to narrow the achievement gap between groups of pupils. We strive to ensure that all pupils make improved progress, whilst bridging the gap in the levels of attainment between FSM and non-FSM pupils.
